Oud begins as a wound. An agarwood tree, struck by mould, defends itself for decades and turns the scar into resin. We carry that resin from the majlis of Kuwait to the hills of Istanbul.

The wood
In the souqs of Kuwait, fine oud is still weighed in tolas, an old unit of 11.66 grams. A single tola of aged oil can hold the resin of several trees.
We buy by smell, never by the label on the grade, and rest every batch for at least a year before it meets a bottle.

The ritual
Pass your clothes over burning bakhoor so the smoke settles into the cloth.
One drop of oud oil on the wrist and behind the ear. It opens as your skin warms.
